Venus of Willendorf

A sterling silver charm, based on the Venus of Willendorf, a paleolithic sculpture.

Available in oxidised silver or gold-plated silver. The charm measures 15mm x 7mm x 7mm

Options for charm, single earring, zip-tag (on a lobster catch) or a pendant on a fine silver trace chain.

The original sculpture is limestone 11 cm high and estimated to have been carved between 22,000 and 24,000 BC. Little is known of it's origin or cultural significance. There are others like it and the most commonly suggested theory is that it is a mother goddess or fertility symbol. Perhaps maintaining the fertility of the crops, livestock and members of the owning tribe via the principle of sympathetic magic.
